Why take time to love yourself?
The gift of you is tremendous. The richness, unique skills, and intelligence that make you are stellar.
- Diets fix us and stop the emotions married to being less than, undesirable, unredeemable—like shame, guilt, and abandonment. Diets fill the empty space and our dissatisfaction with ourselves and life fades away. Myth!
- Life will be perfect when our skinny jeans fit, when the weight that limits our capacity to find love or the perfect job, and that separates our heart, soul and mind falls off our body. We think skinny people have perfect lives and reach out and take what they want — because of their weight! Myth!
- Dieting gives us purpose. It keeps us on the straight and narrow path toward unveiling the beautiful, skinny person that lives inside of us. Myth!
The bad news is these are bullets on my website that speak to the Myths we live by. We believe these myths, apparently, because we keep trying to find perfection by restricting, eating foods we don’t like, and exercising like crazy – when we’d rather be doing something fun. I wrote these a while back. I still believe them.
I also still believe that in order to banish the myths, we need to name our feelings – unworthy, undesirable, angry, sick and tired of it, scared to go after what we really want. Observe them instead of feeding them. Feel them without judgment or censorship. Our feelings do not define us. They just are something we have. They are not us.
Everything you want to change, transform, achieve, shift, manifest in your life begins with feeling the feelings. It may be scary. But scarier is continuing to live in the fear.
Each month, on or near the day of the Full Moon is a great time to:
- Reflect on those things that no longer serve us and to usher them out with Grace, honor, and inner nourishment..
- Step up and take action! To get to the root of our compulsive eating. Through Curiosity and Compassion. Through finding the beginning place where we applied moral meaning and beliefs to our experiences, we begin the process of healing.
- Have closure to these feelings and beliefs that are no longer true, that bring us down. Instead it’s time to allow our goodness to manifest and be reborn.
